Courses of study:



Atex Rotation:

During the Atex rotation students learn:

1.       Various job opportunities in the collision repair field along income perspectives.

2.       Basic vehicle construction of a unibody vehicle.

3.       Proper terminology describing unibody cosmetic and structural parts.

4.       Hands on dent repair using the hammer and Dolly technique.

5.       Basic refinishing techniques aided by the Sim spray paint simulator.

Level  1:

During the level 1 rotation students learn:

1.       Total collision repair overview, including business necessities, equipment, insurance, and other expenses related to the collision
           repair field.     

2.       Non-structural repairs to unibody vehicles, pickup trucks, and SUV’s.

3.       Complete waterborne refinishing techniques including, basecoat clearcoat,  priming, sealing, and tri-stage colors.

4.       Removal and replacement of all bolt-on and clip on cosmetic panels. ( Interior and exterior).

5.       Various plastic repair techniques including, single-sided, two-sided, and tab replacements on plastic interior and exterior parts.

6.       Mig welding techniques including, lap, seem, plug, and butt joint welds.



Level 2:

During the level II rotations students learn:

1.       Complete estimating and damage analysis using the CCC one estimating program.

2.       Structural repairs to unibody vehicles, pickup trucks, and SUV’s.

3.       Removal and replacement of all weld on and glue on cosmetic and structural panels.

4.       Customer relations including, how to greet people, handle adverse situations, and how to close a transaction properly with the
          customer.

5.       Various corrosion protection techniques and the importance of putting protection where you can’t see.

6.       Basic aluminum repair and damage analysis, including the importance of using aluminum specific tools to make repairs,to avoid
          cross contamination..

7.       Basic mechanical repairs related to collision damage.

All curriculum's are taught with the support of the I-CAR enhanced curriculum CD’s. Each unit is taught and tested in accordance with all I-CAR  test requirements. Each unit is also supported by live hands-on work that is brought into the shop, through to support of community vehicles.
